Research
Research Interests
My research interests are quite broad and cover many areas of engineering. The main theme that runs through all of these interests is a very strong emphasis on the implementation of newly proposed methods in software (often using the C++ programming language). Some of my research interests include:
- software
- signal processing (especially image processing)
- geometry processing and computational geometry
- efficient and robust implementation of algorithms in C++
- data structures and algorithms
- education and the teaching of programming (especially with C++)
- data compression (especially image compression)
- multimedia systems and computer graphics
- mesh-based image representations and content-adaptive image sampling
- multiresolution signal and geometry processing (e.g., wavelets, filter banks, and subdivision surfaces)
